ABOUT
The images below are representative of the work I made between 1970 and 1989 (the year I started making portraits). In 2021, I started another abstract series called “Orts.”

1970 to 1982: I made abstract hard-edge images, and later brush-stroke images, on large canvases using acrylic paint and paper collage. I also made several series of 28 x 32 inch serigraphic screen prints with paper collage elements.

1982 to 1984: I made large abstract textured paintings using modeling paste and acrylic paint.

1983 to 1989: I made 5 x 6 foot abstract images on canvas for a series I called “Urban Masks,” juxtaposing abstracted images of masks of indigenous cultures with markings of contemporary cultures.

2021 to present:  I have been making a series of images that I call “Orts,” based on the residue from roasting vegetables on parchment.
